Acne scars and Microneedling
Is microneedling useful for treating acne scars?

Microneedling is a procedure of inducing collagen production using a device covered with small needles. Essentially those needles make holes on the outer layer of the skin, causing micro-injury and in that way promotes natural healing process by the skin and stimulated collagen production. This improves overall skin appearance and it reduces the appearance of acne scars, wrinkles, stretch marks, and other imperfections. Microneedling is present for a while but it has been updated lately since it has been combined with radio frequency. With radio frequency, those micro injuries stimulate even greater production with collagen and elastin. It does not only trigger healing process to treat acne scars but it stimulates overall improvement of texture, tone, and skin appearance.

The length of the needle is determined by board certified provider and it depends on the type of scars and depth of scars that are being treated. So it can be done on different levels, and the invasion it creates determines how long it would take for your skin to fully heal and recover. It can be used with growth factors and contribute and treat many other issues. It can be used to treat different types of scars including ice picks, rolling or boxcar.

There are microneedling devices sold for at home use, but it is advised to have this done by a certified provider. If the skin is overly injured, then the skin will not improve its looks, instead, it will need additional treatments and a long time to heal. This procedure is not only done on the face but other areas of your body. Certified providers can perform it with growth factors, to stimulate the even greater production of collagen. Patients usually require more than one treatment to see desired results. It is important that treatments are accordingly spaced out to avoid scarring and encourage healing and collagen production.
